“GUEST LECTURE” Fisheries Product Technology Study Program, Larantuka Teacher Training and Technology Institute
REINHA.com – “GUEST LECTURE” (Fisheries Product Technology Study Program, Larantuka Teacher Training and Technology Institute) for the first time inviting and holding a ‘Guest Lecture’ with resource person Dr. Amelia Murtisari, SP, M.Sc from, Agribusiness Lecturer at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta.
The “Guest Lecture” which was held offline was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Teacher Training and Technology Institute, Dr. Dati Nawastuti, S.Pt., M.Sc. He emphasized the importance of this “Guest Lecture” as an effort to establish collaboration between universities in addition to increasing knowledge about the world of fisheries. Current fisheries development increasingly emphasizes the principle of sustainability, wise use of marine and fisheries resources is an important key for long-term economic growth. Therefore, it is important to examine the role of the fisheries sector in the blue economy framework and explore innovations that can encourage sustainable development at the local, national and even global levels, emphasized the Dean.
The offline lecture, which lasted for 2 hours from 10.00 – 12.10 WITA at IKTL Campus I, was attended by all students of the Fisheries Products Technology Study Program and also lecturers from the Fisheries Products Technology Study Program.
Dr. Amelia Murtisari, SP, M.Sc presented her material with the title “Fishery Products as a Pillar of the Blue Economy: Strategic Innovation for Sustainable Development”. In his presentation, Dr. Amelia explained significant problems in the fisheries sector such as environmental, institutional and welfare issues. Apart from that, Food/Fish Loss and Waste (FLW) is also a problem in the fisheries industry value chain, both in the areas of catching, cultivation, industrial stages, harvest to the final consumer. FWL that is not handled properly will be a threat to the environment and a sustainable fishing industry.
At the end of his presentation, Dr. Amelia provided recommendations regarding the problems mentioned above. That education and training (HR) includes industry players and workers in terms of handling fish catches, processing of fish-based products, licensing and institutions needs to be an urgent concern. Apart from that, it is also necessary to pay attention and encourage the development of infrastructure facilities that support integrated waste processing and appropriate use of resources (quantity and policy).
Furthermore, Dr. Amelia encourages and recommends collaboration between government, industry, academics in the local area and NGOs, especially in research and innovation activities in the world of fisheries.
After the presentation of the material by the resource person, it was followed by a question and answer session between the participants and the resource person. The first three participants who asked questions received a free book by Dr. Amelia herself.
It is hoped that the first “Guest Lecture” organized by the Fisheries Products Technology Study Program of the Larantuka Teacher Training and Technology Institute will be a breakthrough which will then encourage the Fisheries Products Technology Study Program in particular to have the courage to collaborate and compete with various well-known universities in Indonesia. Hopefully!!!
